Reporting Deadlines
The law requires that you register your POS system ("reporting obligation"). Since 2025, the following rules and deadlines apply:
- Start of the reporting process: Available from January 1, 2025
- Deadline for new POS systems: All systems purchased on or after July 1, 2025, must be reported within one month.
- Deadline for existing POS systems: Systems purchased before July 1, 2025, must be reported no later than July 31, 2025.
- Exception for decommissioned systems: Systems purchased before July 1, 2025, and taken out of operation before that date do not need to be reported.
- No exemptions from the reporting obligation: Except for taximeters, there are no exemptions. Leased and rented POS systems must also be reported, just like purchased ones.
- Reporting is only possible digitally: The reporting must be submitted digitally via "Mein ELSTER" or the ERiC interface. Alternatively, an XML file can be uploaded to www.elster.de – or soon simply and conveniently through orderbird. We will of course keep you informed.
